Google Vids is Google Workspace's AI video creation and editing tool, built for workplace communication rather than cinematic filmmaking — think onboarding videos, project updates, and training content rather than short films. As of an April 2026 update, it's powered by Veo 3.1 for video generation and Lyria 3 for custom music, bringing the same underlying models used in Flow into a business-collaboration context.

Any Google account holder can generate high-quality video clips with Veo 3.1 at no cost. Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers unlock AI avatars — expanded from 23 to 53 default presets spanning photorealistic, 3D cartoon, and graphic novel styles — plus custom soundtracks from 30 seconds up to three minutes long using Lyria 3 and Lyria 3 Pro. A Chrome extension adds screen recording with direct publishing to YouTube, and AI Ultra / Workspace AI Ultra accounts can generate up to 1,000 Veo videos monthly.

Free video generation is available to any Google account. AI avatars and custom music generation require a Google AI Pro or Ultra subscription. More than 7 million users generate videos in Google Vids monthly as of 2026.
